Asphaltene Deposition Loop (Asphalteval)

Manufacturer: Vinci Technologies
Model Number: Ashalteval

The Asphalteval is a lab-scale circulating flow loop designed to measure asphaltene deposition under realistic turbulent-flow conditions encountered in real-world production and transportation environments. Solid deposits are measured using a solids detection system that is based on the principle of light scattering. Optional high-pressure microcopy facilities are also available and allow for imaging the solids particles in the live oil. The pipe loop allows for experimental investigation of the effects of temperature, pressure, flow regime, and shear rate on asphaltenes deposition behavior. The effect of additives can also be assessed. These systems are available with wetted parts made of stainless steel or hastelloy.

Pressure: Up to 20,000 psi
Temperature range: Ambient to 200°C (400°F)
Deposition tube OD: Up to 1 inch
Deposition tube length: Up to 2.5 meters
Electrical: 220 VAC 50/60 Hz 1 phase

Wetted parts: stainless steel (Hastelloy optional)

  • Mimics asphaltene deposition behavior of live reservoir fluids under realistic production and pipeline system conditions.
  • System uses a very low shear-rate pump designed to minimize solids deposition in the pump.
