The AVS A allows for the measurement of acoustic velocity of a core sample at atmospheric pressure and ambient temperature. It is used to propagate compressional and shear waves through core samples, calculate acoustic velocity and determine dynamic elastic constants such as the dynamic moduli, Young's, bulk and shear, along with Poisson's ratio. The system consists of an atmospheric coreholder, acoustic transducer assemblies, acoustic Pulser / receiver and digital oscilloscope.
