The AVS 700 allows for the measurement of acoustic velocity of a core sample under a wide range of pore and confining pressures. It is used to propagate compressional and shear waves through core samples, measure pore pressure, confining pressure and temperature, calculate acoustic velocity and determine dynamic elastic constants such as the dynamic moduli, Young's, bulk and shear, along with Poisson's ratio. The system consists of fully equipped pressure vessel, acoustic transducer assemblies, confining pressure controller, pore pressure controller, acoustic Pulser / receiver and digital oscilloscope.
