The pressurized foam rheometer Rheo F400 is a fully automated pipe rheometer designed specifically to measure the rheological properties of foamed fluids under pressure and temperature conditions over a wide range of foam qualities, shear rates and shear stresses. The system incorporates three high pressure – high temperature syringe pumps for injection of the base fluids and collection of the foamed fluid. Pressure transducers are provided to cover a wide range of shear stress measurements. Flow rate and shear rate of the foamed fluids are measured using a Coriolis mass flow meter. The shear loop is contained within an air bath enabling uniform temperature control of all components within the loop. An integrated high-pressure capillary sight glass cell allows visual determination of the foamed fluid while a video system captures pictures of the foam through the view cell. The software is designed to allow the operator control over foam quality, shear rate, shear stress, time length of tests and operating temperature.

The Foam-Eval enables to study the foam behavior at reservoir conditions according to several parameters. Foams are produced in a high pressure visual cell and are recorded using a high resolution digital camera. A dedicated house-made software determines the foam parameters required before implemented an EOR process. Foam can be generated directly inside the cell by flowing gas through a sintered element mounted at the bottom of the cell.

Polymer and Chemical Injection Coreflood System

The Chemflood allows for various chemical flooding tests including polymer flooding, Alkaline-Surfactant flooding and foam injection. Those tertiary methods improve oil recovery. Polymers increase the viscosity of injected fluid and decrease the oil/water mobility ratio. Surfactant and alkali reduce the interfacial tension between oil and the injected aqueous formulation. Foam improves the sweep efficiency of surfactant injected into fractured reservoirs. The Chemflood device is ideal to understand the effects of chemical injection compatibility and assess the various chemicals to be injected at reservoir conditions. Change in permeability, displacement efficiency and incremental oil recovery due to polymer injection can be studied with this setup. Typical configuration of a chemflood system includes injection pump, four fluid transfer vessels, pressure tapped coreholder, forward and backward injection facilities, confining pump, back pressure regulator, airbath, pressure measurement system, PHmeter, fraction collector and data acquisition system.
